Image Connection To Red Scarf Girl
My Image connects to The Red Scarf Girl because it shows Chairman Mao in a photo and
people standing around it, which shows how much they love him and what he does. In the
book Ji-Li tells how much Chairman Mao is loved by herself and everyone around her. In
china they were all raised up on communism and equality, and thats what Chairman Mao
belived. He was like the presedent to them and they loved him to the point that when he
spoke at events and meetings people would begin to get teary eyed and they would
tremble at the sight of him. Thats how much he was loved and thats what this picture
shows. Ji-Li and the other china citizens treated him like he was god! They really did. What
ever Mao said went, I don't even think people had a choice weather to love Mao or not.

G.P.A
I discovered that my grade point average was not as great as i expected it to be. It was over a 2.0 which means its a good g.p.a but i dont want to be in a 2 catagory i perfer to be in a 3. I was very disapointed by what i saw. I am currently trying to get my grades back to how they were so i can at least get back to how i was before, right now im trying to get my grades to at least a B- because im trying to strive to be better. Its hard but im going to try and do my very best and remember how this can help me in my future, because i have so many dreams.YOU DONT EVEN KNOW!I learned that one of the schools i was thinking about going to "Rider University" has many scholarships that are offered to students with a 2.5 or higher and i had a 2.3 from my caculations. I plan to improve big time! There was one school i heard about and i cant think of the name of it but it isa really good music school that i might want to go to, i know for a fact that the average g.p.a you need to have for that school is a 2.5 and im working on that. Even though the school i want attend requires me to have a 2.5 im still going to strive for better becuase i know i can do better thatn that. My next step is to of course do better, im going to try and focus more on my school work rather than other things. I need to focus more on myself and my school work more than others and what they are doing. When im not focus on my work that is when the distraction comes into play and i start to drift off. Im definatly seeing a change in myself and how i work, last semester i had good grades and this semester my grades dropped a tad bitand im working on get them up and i belive with hardwork and determination i can do just that.

Internship
What struck me most was that all of the interns said that what you learn durring internship will stick with you
forever. They said that you will remember this expeirience for the rest of your life, and its somthing you have
to prepare for. They also said that when you are approaching internship year (11th grade) that you should
look for your internship durring the summer because it helps, because all the internship opportunitys go by
fast.
In an internship i look for somthing that is going to help me in the real world. I also look for somthing that will
benifit me towards my future and goals. I look for an internship that will cordinate with what i want to persue
in life. One of the girls on internship talked about how she interned for a makeup artist company. She said

Suheir and Marjane pt 1
The connection between Suheir and Marjane is how she spoke of war. Suheir said smoke smoke smoke.
Which is what tide in to Marjanes life. Her whole poem was on war. Its as if she took you to iran in her
poem. My favorite part is when Suheir says smoke,smoke,smoke. Because it shows how after the bomb
hits it smokes. Suheir takes us there. Suheir must be from somewhere similar to iran. She spoke of it as if
she were in iran. Marjanes life kinda tied in with Suheirs speech, it almost sounded as if it was coming out
of Marjanes mouth. I could picture myself in Iran as she spoke, like she was telling a very long and detailed

I think that Suheir was declaring war by how she was using her words. Many times Suheir said "These
motherfuckers ask me do i knw the terrorist. Because of my color." I think Suheird was declaring war on that
part because she hates the racism going on. Just because of her color...Thats messed up. Suheir mentioned
alot of death, and i think that she declared that a revolution. She said her brothers and sisters are being killed
and thats where the war ties in. Ther revolutionary is Suheir.

Islam
My partner and i got the topic of islamic holidays. There are two main holidays in the Islamic culture, There is
Eid Al Fitr and Eid Ul Adha. On Eid Al Fitr, it marks the end of Ramadan. Ramadan is the Fasting Period.
When people attend the Celebration they Exchange gifts, they have a humungus feast, They wear nice
clothing, and they have prayer. Durring these celebrations they eat Shirkhoma a sweet desert made of nuts.
Durring Eid Ul Adha, They honor The sacrifice of the prophet abraham. Abraham sacrificed his son Ishmael
and They belive that go sent a lamb to his sons place as a reward for Abraham, being great. The islams kill
lambs and feed to the poor and less fortunate. The islams also have a community prayer durring Eid Ul Adha.

"Sri Lanka Current Events"
My countrie is Sri Lanka and it is a little island outside of asia. Since Sri Lanka is a island it has no bordering
countries. In the Suri Lankan onlne news paper i read a very intresting article. It was about the Suri Lankan
minster of education. Dissandyke (the minister of higher education) offered an oppourtunity of a lifetime. He
promisd a free laptop to any of the higher Education students and the students attending a four year
university. This was a big suffer for this countrie because they dont make that much money. But the minister
noticed that the young adults and teenagers needed to be awarded for there work and determination towards
school.

Independence Day: February 4th

"STREET ART"
I think that the art that banksy can be transferd into my own work in many ways. The way he
made many collauges to make up one image is cool, i could see myself doing that. I could see
myself doing a recreation of an "old school" game like space invaders, but not an exact replica
of banksy's but maybe pac-man. His work can be recreated many times in many peoples work
including mine.
What amazed me about banksy's work is how he took time to create his stencils before putting
it out in the public eye. In the movie you could see how htook his time carefully and went through
each stencil perfecting it. It's really cool. I love how he put all of his work through out all of the
city. He is labeld as a "criminal" but in my personal thoughts i know that what he is doing is his
own way of expressing himself. That is what plays a huge part in what amazed me about his
work. His secret identitiy.
In a certain way i think banksy used a subliminal message in his art work. Like in the one were
he has the little kids playing and then you look closely and you see that there is a crack in the
wall and you see a tropical paradise. Its very...very....random it's diffrent. Its not your everyday
type of art you see. The obama poster was one that i didnt understand. However i did know it

Metamorphosis "Part two"
In my opinion the only person out of the Samsa family that benefits anyone is Gregor. He goes to work every day just to make scrap money. He wakes up early in the morning to go to work, when he can barely get out of the bed. Not to mention he works exhausting hours and makes basically nothing, just to keep a roof over his family’s head. Even though his parents are not working and he is, they can be respectful towards him. They could thank him and be nice for a change.
Support:
When you have a family, support one another. Love each other because at the end of the day you guys are all that each other have. Look out for one another make sure everyone is safe at all times. Even though times are tough and you may fight with your family but always remember to care for one another.
Mindfulness:
Like in Gregors case. His family was not being mindful of him. Gregor would go to work and his family didn’t really care. What they actually should have been doing was saying “hey how was your day?” or “thank you Gregor for all you do.” Being mindful for what he was doing. Because all he did was work hard and all they did was sit there with blank expressions.
Family Discussions:
Use this time to come together as a family and discuss issues that need to be resolved. Weather its about school, work, or each other. Put it out there and resolve the problems. Also, use this time for good discussions. Maybe about the A+ you received on your progress report or your promotion at work.
Respectfulness:
Respect each other. Try not to fight, and look at the other siblings/spouses point of view. Try to compromise with one another. Respect yourself too. Keep yourself tidy
And love yourself.
Family Outings:
Its important to get out together. Weather its going out for dinner or seeing a movie. You need to go out together as a family. For one day it is possible to hold your personal festivities for one day and go hang out with your family, and laugh, enjoy yourself and established unbreakable bonds!
I would have to give the Samsa family a C- based on my plethora of topics. They hardly portray any of my advice. Although after Gregor died they wish they would have did what I said. It was too late.
Metamorphosis "Part One"
I think the positive aspects of Gregors metamorphosis is that
he doesn't have to work.Gregor worked his butt off to make it
happen for his family. He kinda put them on a pedestal. He
woke up early in the morning, ran to the train and went to his
job. Gregor worked tireless hours at his job.
It seemed as if his family was not very supportive on his half.
They had grew to almost expect something from him. They
just expected him to go to work and make it happen. They
were never all that thankful towards Gregor either. Gregor
struggled to make it to work everyday also. He could hardly
get up in the morning.

Metamorphosis Chapter 3
I think that Kafka changed Gregor into a dung roach because it resembles him an many ways.
Secondly i think that he changed him because he knew he needed to change in some way. I think Gregor
also knew he needed to change somethings too. I think Kafka was wise for what he did, i mean shure it
was bad on Gregors half, but it was time for a change. Kafka made the right choice, it might have not been
the best end result but he had a reason behind what he did.
I think Kafka changed him into a cockaroach because thats a very low insect, and it has no purpose except
to sit in crap all day. Also its an ugly bug. No one likes them, its not like spiders where there purpose is to
catch flies around your home, Or a bee which makes honey. Roaches just sit in filth all day long. They are
also very slow and creepy. It resembles Gregor when he was a Roach, Kafka did so he would not have to
work that horrible job and pay off his parents debt too.

Of mice and men comparison: Book to Movie
I think the Of Mice and Men movie was overall, similar to the book. There were some
diffrences between the two. In the begining of the movie there was was a railroad train
that took George and Lennie to a place. In the the book there was no railroad train and
they had to walk all that way. In the movie there was a bus too. It dropped them off ten
miles from there destination. In the book there was no bus and they had to hike that
whole ten miles . The part in the barn when Lennie killed Curleys wife, In the book it was
at night. In the movie she got killed in the daytime. They also left out the part when the
dog got killled. They just had Candy swirming around in the bed as a replacement for that
sad scene.

"Dear George"
Dear George,
I appreichiate your concerns for your friend Lennie, but i think the decision you made was a bitter/sweet decision to make.
I think that the way you used to talk to him was rude, i know you cared for him but as i quote saying things like "He is a poor bastard" is a rude comment to make.
Now i know criticaly he is a "bastard" but i dont think that is the right thing to say to him.
When you foundout that Lennie killed Curleys wife and you heard Curly say " Im gonna shoot the guts outta that big bastard myself, even if i only got one hand.
Im gonna get em". You should have thought to yourself oh no he is about to get my longtime friend, and tryed to help him out as much as possible.
However, i do understand that you did make the best choice you could have possibly could have in that situation.
I think that it was very nice of you to be nice to him when you knew you were going to kill him. I love it how you said "We gonna get a little place" and " We'll have a cow, and down the flat we'll have a....little peice of alfalfa, for the rabbits, and you get to tend the rabbits.

Although you did kill him for good resons it is sad that you had to endure the pain of killing him, but as i said i understand what you had to do. I commend you for that.

I think that Lennie is scared because of curly. I mean he basicly threatened him in a really bad way. Basicly
getting his point across that he does not like him.
Lennie is the special type and even though he is big enough to take curly down he is to mentaly challenged to
see it. Curly is very "harsh" with big people because he is a small man, so when he see's bigger people he
tends to be rude to them. Lennie said "Please dont let him sock me George" Its quite obvious that he is
scared of curly. Curly is very rude to Lennie as he said "Next time you answer when your talked to". Curly
wants to be a leader and he's not and he has a stinky attitude with Lennie. I am pretty sure Lennie is leaving
because he is scared of Curly. I feel bad for Lennie, everyone thinks bad of him. I know that George cares
about him but he sure expresses it in a rude way.

I think that Lennie is dependent on George because Lennie is a little slow.
Lennie is a special needs person, however he is not too mentally retarded but he is a little
sick in the mind. Lennie also seems to have a short memory and he never seems to think
straight. George is his backbone in a certain way. George always is there to remind him of
things, for example: "dont drink to much water from that river or you will be sick like you were
last time". He is like a big brother to Lennie even though he is bigger in size.
I think George keeps lennie around because he might be afraid to let him go because he
might get hurt or get in trouble. Another reason he could possibly keep him around is
because he likes him too, i think on the outside he is rude and calls him a bastard but on the

"Interview"
Sofia
Sofia thinks that the relationship between Melinda and the tree is that she needs to get strong like a tree and grow from her experience.
Sofia believes that the student is the one that isolates themselves and not the school. Because the students piers need to relate to the student.
Sofia thinks that if the parents were more involved that she could actually get through her trauma and she would have a more positive attitude towards life. Because she needs support as a child.
Sofia believes that the book is very good but its a little bit depressing. Because she is so negative.

College bound
I discovered that my grade point average was not what i expected it to be, and it was a wake up call. I now know that i need to try my best no matter what my freinds do, my besties do, i need to focus on Desmond.I was very disapointed i know what i need to do now to raise my grade in spanish. But im glad diana and chris did this exercise its a big push telling us to do good while we can because we need to focus on our grades now before it realy counts in the end.I learned that the schools i wanted to attend were perfect. They were diverse, ethnic, and respectful towards the students.I was looking at rider university as my number one choice because they dont make you pa a grip of cash. i was looking at city university of ney york city because i love being in the heart of the city and subways surronded by office buildings. But soon i realized that this was not a good school for me it cost way over my budget and you have to take all a.p classes to even go there.. and thats not realistic. Im definately taking the "right" path to sucess i mean thats what im here to do... get my education. i care so much about my grades and where im going in life. This has been a BIG TIME wake up call and i will take it into effect and get my work done.
